There are so many kinds of sausage rolls around the world. Especially our German neighbors are famous for it. Combined with a good beer or as a welcoming breakfast after an Oktober Fest night out, this is the perfect snack. At CT, we have our own little recipe to create the perfect savory sausage roll. To make this friendly snacker you need the following ingredients:
10 sheets of puff pastry 10x10
500 gr ground beef (fatty)
1 tablespoon of smoked bell pepper powder
1 clove of garlic
handful of parsley
handful of smoked almonds
splash of olive oil
pepper and salt
seed mix (sesame, poppy, caraway etc.)
The easiest way to make this recipe is to take a food processor but it’s really fun to get your hands dirty.
Season the beef in a large mixing bowl. Chop the garlic, onion, almonds and parsley, break one egg and add this to the beef. Start mixing and kneading. Drizzle some olive oil over the meat mixture and knead until you have a nice texture.
Lay the sheets of puff pastry on the counter and fill the middle with a big spoon of the beef. Then fold. Fill them up generously but be careful not to overfill.
When all folded, press the sides where the pastry touches good to close the rolls.
Gently brush each roll with the beaten egg. Sprinkle some salt, pepper and your seed mix over these bad boys and bake for around 15-18 minutes in a 180 ℃ degrees oven.
Don’t put them in your mouth straight out of the oven. Stay strong, wait 5 minutes and go for it!
