Tolima

Colombia, done properly. Tolima is a regional coffee from the Andean heart of the country, where the Central and Eastern Cordilleras run side by side and tens of thousands of families grow coffee on plots of a hectare or two. This is the coffee that made Colombia famous: clean and sweet, with lively character, honey and red fruit, and enough body to work as an easy everyday espresso.The latest iteration of Isa is the most beautiful one yet. For Isa, we select a high-grown washed coffee from Latin America in the most classic style: balanced, bright, sweet, and easy to drink.

Tolima is not a single farm. It is a regional lot, bought through the FNC, which is how the great majority of the world's Colombian coffee has been sold for a hundred years. Regional lots are how Colombia built its reputation, and the FNC's cupping and grading standards are why the word "Colombian" still means something on a coffee bag.

Over the years we have built a great relationship with the FNC's representatives here in the Netherlands. These are lifelong coffee professionals who work to represent and advocate for the farmers who bring us the Tolima coffee. With the FNC we have put together events in Amsterdam where people from all over can come together and taste a wide variety of great Colombian coffees.

The standards for quality set forth in this program shine through in the coffee. Tolima is a lovely, soft, and easy-going espresso. It's lighter in body and more honey-forward than our Brazil-based espressos. Specialty coffee for the common man was always the idea. Tolima is the most direct expression of it we have offered: an excellent, honest Colombian coffee, from the people who grow most of the country's coffee, at a price that lets you drink it every day.
